Mariama Bah was born in Spurloop, Wilberforce, Freetown, Sierra Leone, and spent her early years between Sierra Leone and Guinea. She now lives in Irvington, New Jersey, in the United States, with her husband and son, and enjoys spending time with Friends and family. She wrote this book for all women, girls, and others who feel trapped by customs, traditions, and religion, to encourage and enable them to achieve their dreams.
