She is the author of a number of books including Everyday Miracles: The Art of Stanley Spencer (Dunedin Public Art Gallery, 2003) and Angels and Aristocrats: Early European Art in New Zealand Public Collections (Random House New Zealand, 2010). Catherine Hammond is the research library manager of the Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tamaki. She studied at the University of Auckland before pursuing her MA in Library and Information Studies at Victoria University of Wellington. She has curated a number of archive exhibitions including Collective Women: Feminist Art Archives from the 1970s to the 1990s (2017) and contributed essays to the catalogues Modern Paints Aotearoa (2014) and Frances Hodgkins: Forgotten Still Life (2015).
