OverviewIn photography and haiku, Jock Cobb recollects his service as a World War II ambulance driver in the Middle East, North Africa, and Italy. A student of famed photographer Laura Gilpin, Cobb was photography editor of the Harvard Crimson before registering as a Conscientious Objector during World War II. Cobb volunteered with the American Field Service Ambulance Corps and converted his ambulance into a field darkroom for developing his photographs. Sixty years later, Dr. Cobb rediscovered his black-and-white negatives and produced this unique view of WWII through the lens and pen of a pacifist serving on the front lines.
