Donal has one brother Peter, two sisters Teresa and Ann, his mum Maura and his partner Priya. He wrote a poem for his local club Carbury entitled ""The Famous Blue and Gold"" in 2009. He also wrote a poem for his County Team Kildare entitled ""The Famed Lilywhites"" which appeared in the Kildare GAA book 2011.
