Four Ordinary Days

Overview

"With an impending move from long-time home in the ""city"" the author concerned herself with finding something for her husband, long time college baseball coach, Gary, to do in the more rural community of Bear Valley Springs. At random, she selected a book on wine-making. Ten years later, she is certain that the ""monster"" she created with that book was well worth it, because both the Adamses are now fully engaged in the full production of Syrah and Malbec wines, organically grown and estate produced - that is, growing, harvesting, processing and bottling it themselves! The journey is fascinating, ever-changing, and in the end, a journey of love. Four otherwise ordinary days in early autumn become extraordinary, as a growing band of friends and family come to share in the work and the satisfaction of the journey from vines to wines. Both the author and her husband, retired UCLA head baseball coach, Gary Adams, are involved in the full process, and have added many more vines, including Malbec, vineyard. In addition, they still raise and train Arabians for the sport of endurance, and the horses graze side by side with the vines. The idyllic valley plays host to the yearly pruning, watering, wine racking - but especially those ""Four Ordinary Days"" that turn out to be not so ordinary after all. The humor, the errors and the entire journey is exposed here for the reader to see and enjoy!"

Author Information

"Sandra Adams was born in southern California, and though a ""city girl"" by birth, had far more ""country"" in her. A life long passion for horses took her into a more rural life, as she married the loo of her life, Gary Adams, after completing her college education in 1984. Along with two daughters, Gary and Sandy moved in 1987 to the then-rural town of Agoura, California. and spent 18 years raising Arabians, while Gary coached college baseball at UCLA, and Sandy led the worship at their church. In 2004, when Gary was retired, and both girls were entering or in college, the Adams's decided to move from the now-bustling town of Agoura to the secluded and even more rural community of Bear Valley Springs, California. Having visited many times to ride in the local endurance horse races in Bear Valley, they had fallen in love with the valley, and year after year, considered retiring there. Horses, Collies, and their life in Agoura, moved lock, stock and barrel to their new home, and soon Gary embarked on the wine-making journey, with Sandy closely in tow. Both Sandy and Gary are degreed in Physiology of Exercise/Kinesiology, and both are now published authors. While Sandy manages the website, Gary Adams Books, and manages the Arabian endurance team of horses, Gary manages the vineyard and continues to write children's books. Both Sandy and Gary have more stories to share!"
