She began her career as a member of the corps de ballet in the Anglo-Russian Ballet Company, and this was followed by five years in repertory. Then, following her mother's retirement, she took over as proprietor and headmistress of The Hampshire School. Under her leadership the school went from strength to strength, until in the late 1970s the idea of L'Aecole Hampshire was born. Originally it was conceived as a branch of The Hampshire School, but the project grew to become a leading language school with an international reputation. Now retired and living in London, Jane continues to be active and creative. Watercolour painting is one of her main interests, and she has been greatly encouraged by successful exhibitions of her work in London galleries.
