Dr. John McLaughlin assigned as Chief Factor. 1839 to 1845 two Chief Factors based at Fort Vancouver, with McLoughlin in charge and Douglas as his subordinate. 1843 HBC builds Fort Victoria. 1846 Chief Factor McLoughlin retires 1860 HBC abandons Fort Vancouver 1866 Fort burned to the ground
