Forging In Ritual Workspace

Overview

This book is intended for a wide Pagan audience. The information contained within, I firmly believe, will cross over to many of the different Pagan paths that are currently active. Within this book, are practices that I have developed for working at the Pagan forge, working to achieve the best ritual tool that you can make. I also discuss magnetic fields within ritual objects, which is an often unmentioned subject. This subject is covered with common sense descriptions so that someone who is not a physics major should be able to easily understand and use the knowledge. The focus of this book is to provide you with enough information for you to successfully venture into the world of hammering hot metal. There are many materials and methods for doing this, but I will lean toward those materials and methods that do not take a large chunk out of your household funds. In addition, my intention is that this book be sufficiently detailed that you may use it, and only it, to successfully forge several projects, including a blade. Essentially it's intended as a blacksmithing 101 course. Now, I have an aversion to any book that calls itself ""The Complete Book of X."" No, this book is not everything that you need to know about blacksmithing, but it is my intention that it is enough for you to venture out on your own, and become successful enough at it, and like it enough, that you will then seek out additional books and people from which to learn more. If you read this book and complete your quest, you will have an object, heated in the fires of Hephaestus, forged upon the anvil of your will, and quenched by the sweat that falls from your knotted brow. You will have a hand forged iron object that no one else in the world will have, an object hand forged by you.

Author Information

The Author first started to swing a hammer at hot metal in 1984. His first work was done over a charcoal pit in the back yard, and was a pair of Athames for his wife.He became interested in the local blacksmith group and eventually became their newsletter editor for 6 years, where he improved his skills at description and writing.About 1995, his wife started sewing and designing fantasy and renaissance clothing to sell at local events. The Pagan community, in general, has a need for items hand forged within ritual workspace. Since that initial event, the forge has been taken to several events annually. At the ones that are Pagan, the forge is set up for Ritual Work. At the ones that are muggle, the forge is set up for Ritual Work, and those that know about it know; and the muggles walk through the booth unknowing. In our part of the world this is good.At this point, all Pagan items forged by Brigid's Forge are forged within ritual workspace, either at an event or at home. If you wish to learn more about hammering in ritual workspace, or blacksmithing in general, please look through this book and see if it contains the information that you are seeking. There are chapters which contain information on construction of several different types and styles of blades and Athames. If you can't find the information you are seeking, if you have the opportunity, talk to the author. He's the one standing by the forge. Both the author and his wife are Gardnerian Tradition Priests and Elders. They are also Initiates of the Unicorn Tradition
