My name is Andre Johnson aka The Master of Illusions, my qualifications are in the form of street credentials and credibility, which means I was in the trenches when it was going down, I am a vital part in this history but my book tells about the original forefathers of this dance that came before me, this dance was originally called Roboting, Boogaloo & Strutting and in L.A. Popping, Poplocking and Bopping, I had two groups that were known back in the day The Bionic Boogaloo's and The Masters of Illusions we performed in many contests, talent shows, local clubs and Malls etc, we were from the South Bay area of Carson, ca, this dance has had many innovations and changes since it's conception which dates back to the late 1960's until today, I have written a couple of books but in two different genre's so I won't go into that here. This dance has finally gotten recognition on the same level playing field as ballet and modern dance in the eyes of some, it's been a longtime coming, I know my book is one of the first of it's kind I say that because there's a book and a movie coming out soon from Kenny Ortega The Underground Dance Masters The History of a forgotten Era, both of our book project's are just as valuable to the people as it pertains to history and information that will help for years to come and fill in many gaps and misconceptions regarding it's origins and it's credibility, my interests are writing, martial arts, and of course dancing, I guess you can say I was born to tell this story and deliver it to the people of the world like the movie the book of Eli.
