Igor Davor Gaon, Ph. D., was born in Bosnia and Herzegovina. the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which started in 1992, significantly changed the course of his life, and the one time Sarajevo University professor became a humanitarian worker. In 1997, Gaon became Mayor of the Municipality Center of Sarajevo. It was at this time that he first faced the problem of trafficking in human beings, especially women and girls, for the purpose of sexual exploitation. In 2000, Gaon became the Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Council of Europe working on the accession of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Council of Europe. During his five year tenure in this position, he focused on issues of human rights including trafficking in human beings. In 2005, Gaon was appointed Special Representative of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe in Georgia - South Caucuses. Nancy Forbord, M.A., is an educator and trainer who has spent the last thirty years living and working in 18 countries around the world. From 1987 to 1995, Forbord worked as a foreign affairs specialist for the U.S. Department of State's Foreign Service Institute, training U.S. diplomats and other government officials. Since 1995, Forbord has been an independent consultant, training diplomats and other foreign affairs officials of countries of Southeast Europe and the Pacific Rim, Ethiopia and Malaysia. Her interest in the issue of trafficking in human beings started in 2001 while she was training diplomats in southeast Europe. She is currently working with the Romanian Diplomatic Academy on a Fulbright Grant.
