For Each a Road

Overview

Follow the lives of JP, Jamie, Anto, and Deco, four young friends growing up in the working-class neighbourhood of Tallaght, Dublin. This coming-of-age story traces their journey from the age of twelve into their twenties, navigating a world where life is far from easy. For Jamie, childhood was marked by tragedy. When he was just four years old, his father was murdered on a cold winter's night while walking home from the pub. The trauma lingered, but having JP by his side gave him a sense of safety and belonging that helped soften the harshness of life. As the boys grow up, they face the weight of a world that demands too much, too soon. Drink and drugs become part of their daily lives as they try to cope with the chaos around them. Along the way, they experience the pain of losing loved ones, the intensity of first sexual encounters, and the violent realities that shape the roads they walk.

Author Information

Paul Kavanagh is a devoted son, brother, uncle, godfather of three, and proud father of four. Family is at the heart of everything he does. His children, Zoë, Heidi, Emily, and Phoebe, are his world. Emily, Heidi's identical twin, tragically passed away in the womb due to complications with her umbilical cord at twenty-nine weeks and six days. She was laid to rest in the Angels' Plot at Glasnevin Cemetery in 2010. Her memory lives on in Paul's heart and in the hearts of her sisters. Paul approaches life with a positive mental outlook and a deep desire to help others. He believes in seeing the good in every situation and encourages those around him to do the same. His caring nature and unwavering empathy are what led him to write this book. This is Paul's first book, born from a personal mission: to reach out to young boys and men who are struggling with their mental health. Ireland is facing a silent epidemic; suicide rates among men remain alarmingly high, demanding greater awareness and action. But this crisis extends far beyond Ireland's borders; it's a global issue. Paul wants to raise awareness, offer hope, and remind readers that help is always available. Suicide is not the answer. Talking is. Whether you're young or old, Paul is someone who will listen. He's here to help. Driven by ambition and a ""never give up"" attitude, Paul believes that what you put into life is what you get back. His message is simple but powerful: He who perseveres, conquers.
