OverviewSculpture as a Physical Equation. In his sculptures and installations, Florian Neufeldt (b. Bonn, 1976;lives and works in Berlin) creates self-contained systems in whichmeaning circulates. Embedding folded doorframes and chairframeworks in the gallery walls or attaching them to wires to convertthem into bare-bones electric circuits, he makes works that resemblecomplex setups for physics experiments and mathematical equations.Neufeld's installations are meant to remind us that art as such doesnot explain the world, dispelling the misconception that has artguiding us in making sense of reality. Taking up the traditions of theobjet trouvé or the readymade, he instead explores the blanks thatalert the beholder to the fact that nothing in the world can beeffortlessly understood. Titled Folds and Faults, Florian Neufeldt'sfirst monograph presents a cross-section of his oeuvre from the pasttwelve years. With essays by Gerrit Gohlke and Catherine Nichols.
