Fog over the Aare: Rösli in the ambassadorial city

Overview

The case: Commissioner Rösli, a grumpy but astute investigator from Basel, is sent to Solothurn to assist with the investigation. At the heart of the case is the murder of Dr. Meyer , an archivist, who was found dead in the Fischbrunnen fountain - with a chain of eleven antique keys around his neck. The investigation: Rösli and his young partner Flückiger from Solothurn encounter a wall of silence and tradition. The city, obsessed with the mystical number 11 , guards a dark secret dating back to 1798 and the time of the French invasion. The clue: An old parchment, the ""List of Peace of Nations"", points to massive corruption and betrayal by the old patrician families. The turning point: After a robbery in the workshop of watchmaker Gottlieb, the trail leads deep beneath St. Ursen Cathedral . The solution: In the secret twelfth chamber beneath the crypt, Rösli discovers not a treasure of gold, but a state-of-the-art digital archive. Here, the fortune of the "" Ambassadors, "" laundered over centuries, was managed. The culprit turns out to be the young police officer Lukas von Roll , who wanted to defend the family honor with blood. The cliffhanger: Just as Rösli believes he has closed the case and is on the train back to Basel, he receives a message from the museum director, Dr. Arnet. A twelfth page of the list exists - and it leads directly to his hometown of Basel , to Münzgasse. The shadow of the past has followed Rösli all the way to the Rhine.
