Childhood polio left Leonard Kriegel without the use of his legs. In Flying Solo, he writes in a lyrical, uncompromising voice about the interlaced themes of courage and masculinity against the backdrop of loss. Leonard Kriegel's work has appeared frequently in Harper's, The Nation, The New York Times Magazine, Best American Essays, and many other publications. The author of six books, he lives with his wife in New York City.
