Walter Gowing and his wife Lillian have travelled to more than 100 countries around the globe and spent a total of one year at sea during a 10 year period, all in the name of finding exciting news and adventure stories for his readers. Although his weekly newspaper column in the Cambridge Times covers events and happenings in and around the community of Cambridge, Ontario, Canada, his books reach to far-off places in Asia, Africa and South America. The normally mild-mannered columnist becomes a risk taker when in the jungles of Africa or on the border of Yemen and Saudi Arabia. Gowing's life has been packed with excitement, danger and intrigue. For the author, sometimes the most rewarding experiences are the ones he doesn't need a passport for - at home in Cambridge.
