Overview

Everybody loves a good story no matter what the age. That is one reason Jesus liked to use stories to illustrate the points he was trying to make. In Flowers in the Wind 9, Fr. Bob provides 8-minute story-based homilies for each Sunday of the year. In this volume, he focuses on Cycle C, a cycle focusing mostly on the Gospel of Luke. Each homily takes one or more of the Scripture passages of the day and tells a story illustrating the point or moral of the Scripture. Then, Fr. Bob answers the most important question every homilist must answer: So what?! What does this have to do with me today? Some stories are old, and some are modern. They feature saints and sinners, the lost and the found. They are funny, sad, intriguing, or inspirational. In all instances, though, they make us think about our own life journeys and how we are following the path of Jesus Christ.

Fr. Robert J. Kus, R.N., Ph.D. is Pastor of the Basilica Shrine of St. Mary in Wilmington, N, C. Ordained a Catholic priest in 1998, Fr. Bob is also a sociologist, psychiatric-mental health nurse, writer, university professor and police chaplain. In addition to practicing nursing in many states, he has been on the faculty of several universities including The University of Montana, The University of Iowa, The University of Texas at Austin, and North Carolina State University. His homilies were created for parishes with heavy concentrations of children and young adults who love a good story.
