Can Dax Turn the Tide in Time to Save Our Oceans? Dax Masters has everything he could wish for--great friends, a good handle on seventh Grade, and a science community to run. As head of the Earth Moves Project, Dax has inspired other kid scientists from around the world to share their observations. His schedule is full, but that doesn't stop him from signing up for a new extracurricular class, Environmental Studies. Dax hopes he can sail through the new class by using Earth Moves to expand on what he's learned about tectonic plate movement. But when a new problem presents itself, Dax can't ignore his instincts. Dana Goldstein has always been a creative type, and began telling stories at the age of six when she was punished and sent to her room. Her instructions were to not play, not read, not color--just sit on her bed and think about what she had done. To quell the boredom, Dana started making up stories, which she would tell herself-out loud--even though no one was listening. Dana started writing down her stories at the age of nine, using school composition books. She moved into a career as a journalist, writing feature stories for magazines and newspapers across North America. Dana lives, creates, and writes from her home in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Shift is her first middle grade novel. Brian Holden grew up in Traverse City, Michigan, went to college in Ann Arbor, and lived in Los Angeles just long enough to forever hate the winters in Chicago. In addition to running his theater company, StarKid Productions, he performs improv comedy. But no, he can't tell you a joke. Only by responding truthfully in the moment is he absolutely hilarious. He loves reading and is happy that he's gotten to lend his voice to some great stories so far.
