OverviewLearn the traditional American craft of creating painted floor cloths and then experiment with fabrics and papers to create beautiful floor quilts and floor pages. These colourful, painted canvases were developed in Europe in the early 1400s, used as alternatives to carpets and for table coverings in homes and churches. Durable and decorative, they were used widely throughout the 1700s and 1800s until they were replaced by linoleum in the late 19th century. Today, homeowners enjoy them for their handcrafted, artisan appeal. This five-part book with more than 200 colour images includes step-by-step instructions for making floor cloths, floor quilts, and floor pages, as well as a gallery of inspiring finished pieces in a wide range of styles. Employing modern techniques and materials, these projects are easy enough for beginners but will also appeal to crafters who want to expand their repertoire. AUTHOR: Vyvyan Arata Rundgren has been involved in art all her life, from painting to needlework to quilting. She has created needlepoint and cross-stitch designs and painted with oil and watercolour, but after moving to Virginia in the 1990s, she also became interested in painted floor cloths. Experimenting with fabric and paper introduced her to the floor quilt and floor page concepts. She is still a quilter, a water colourist, needlepointer, and gardener. An instructor at the John C. Campbell Folk School in North Carolina, she serves on the board of her local art guild in Stanardsville, Virginia, where she is also the director for The Palette Art Gallery. 239 colour images Full Product DetailsAuthor: Vyvyan RundgrenPublisher: Schiffer Publishing Ltd Imprint: Schiffer Publishing Ltd Weight: 0.059kg ISBN: 9780764348754ISBN 10: 0764348752 Pages: 64 Publication Date: 28 September 2015 Audience: General/trade , General Format: Paperback Publisher's Status: Active Availability: In Print This item will be ordered in for you from one of our suppliers.
