OverviewThe children's book is about a twelve-year-old boy who is very interested in archaeology and in other countries' cultures, both ancient and modern. His mother is a classical archaeologist, and his father is an anthropologist. The boy's name is Flinders, but his friends-and sometimes his family-call him Flin. He was named after the famous archaeologist and Egyptologist Flinders Petrie. Flinders has the opportunity to accompany his mother on an archaeological dig site in Greece over the summer. He interacts with his mother's retired professor, Mr. Phipps, and with many people he meets as he learns about archaeology and Greek culture, both ancient and modern.
