OverviewFlashing Blades Of Kung Fu Steel' is a faithful attempt to reproduce the legendary 1970's grindhouse kung fu cinema into a set of fantasy role playing game rules created under the open gaming license. The setting of the game is the fictional country of Azaka which was founded centuries ago by Governor Hizori Azaka, who led refugees across the deadly Sea of Agareth after their homeland of Nirajima was destroyed by barbarian invaders. Three of their ships were lost, but the survivors rebuilt their culture in a new land named for their leader. Over time, Azaka grew into a prosperous nation divided into four provinces-Tangzhou (North), Nobura (South), Xindo (East), and Azakan (West)-each with distinct geography and resources meant to be shared cooperatively. That unity eventually fractured, as Tangzhou grew increasingly militant, forming unstable alliances and descending into political chaos that culminated in the rise of a mysterious, self-appointed Emperor. The Northern Emperor now seeks to conquer the South, outlawing its religion, banning monks, and enforcing obedience through terror and occupation. The Southern Province, largely rural and uneducated but culturally anchored by the revered Wo Fei monks, becomes the frontline of resistance as villages burn, civilians are executed, and Tangzhou troops infiltrate towns. Despite vows of non-violence, monks, rebels, and ordinary citizens form an underground resistance to defend their homeland. In this game, player characters are driven by their desire to learn, train, and become the best kung fu fighter in all of Azaka. Most of these young upstarts who commit to a dedicated path of martial arts are common peasants who have sworn to undertake this difficult journey fraught with danger and adventure. This is where 'Flashing Blades of Kung Fu Steel' begins.
