OverviewOur AudioBookActorsWorkshop sessions begin with a three-hour orientation session for all nine members of each session group, but it's not uncommon for one or more of the group to be unable to complete the six-to-eight weeks it takes for us to finish the book that session group will be recording. A vacancy requires us to bring in a replacement that was previously not able to join us due to our 9-person group maximum, so we contact the next person on our waiting list - and if he or she comes in to re-record the first person's dialogue, we cannot provide the new team member with the full orientation - and that is what this book is intended to replace. Our workshop groups provide each session member with not only dialogue coaching, but because we form 3-person teams, each member gains hands-on experience in technical directing, voice acting, and script supervision. One book we are now recording has 29 voices there are parts for - so with only 9 actors, there is also a significant amount of experience to be gained in playing multi parts in a book, much like the very talented cast of the Simpson, Family Guy and other animated programs. Anyone living in an area convenient to where our workshop sessions are conducted in Marina del Rey, California that is interested in considering joining our workshops should visit our website at www.AudioBookActorsWorkshops.com and submitting the REQUEST INTERVIEW form. They will then be contacted by telephone to discuss becoming one of our session team-members. With the tremendous rise of Print on Demand technology and publishers like Amazon.com's Createspace, there is a growing need for talented voice actors able to provide audio for the independent authors to have access to talent to convert their works into audiobooks. We look forward to hearing from actors, and working with them in our workshop sessions. Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationGENE GROSSMAN, Founder of the Audiobook Actors' Workshops Gene took advantage of his musical abilities to work his way through high school, college, and law school playing piano, bass, trombone, clarinet and banjo, and also appeared as a musician in seven major motion pictures. While slowly building his law practice, he purchased a 5-ton grip & light package and rented it out to independent film production companies. Always having been interested in boating, he moved onto his first boat, a 45-foot Chris Craft motor yacht in Marina del Rey California and years later, while serving as navigator on a yacht delivery from the U.S. to Tortola, wrote his first book, Celestial Navigation for the Complete Idiot (still a favorite with boaters and navies around the world). He used his own production equipment to shoot a 2-hour program on the subject and in so doing, unintentionally created the nautical video industry, a library of productions that grew to more than 40 titles. After 20 years as a trial attorney with his own 7-lawyer firm, and Dean of a private law school, Gene started writing novels: now retired, he spends most of his time in Marina del Rey California aboard his current yacht, where he created the popular 20-book series of Peter Sharp Legal Mysteries, plus over 20 non-fiction titles on various subjects ranging from Golf, to Deposition Preparation, to How to Write a Mystery Novel.
