Reviews

""FIRES OF INJUSTICE is a fascinating historical novel based on the late-1800s plight of human-trafficking of Chinese women and girls into San Francisco and other west coast cities. I loved the broad spectrum of this story told from Yakira's point of view, who works at the Occidental Mission Home with Miss Culbertson, and Grant, an attorney for the Chinese Six Companies (established to protect and manage the Chinese communities). Even though I researched this era extensively for my own historical novel, I found new insights and information as this story follows the intrigue, dangers, and complications of dedicated people fighting against the injustices toward a disadvantaged population. FIRES OF INJUSTICE combines beautiful writing with an important part of history that shouldn't ever be forgotten. A real page-turner!"" - Heather B. Moore, USA Today bestselling author of The Paper Daughters of Chinatown ""In FIRES OF INJUSTICE, Kendy Pearson brings to life a little-known chapter of American history and tells a compelling story of courage in the face of injustice. This engaging and deeply emotional novel follows brave women and men determined to protect the vulnerable, even amid deep prejudice. I couldn't put it down!"" - Karen Barnett, award-winning author of Through Water and Stone. ""All the characters were well drawn and believable. The characters and settings come to life under the author's descriptive pen. Kendy Pearson has highlighted a dreadful time in history which is not well known at all. We are educated as we read. FIRES OF INJUSTICE is a powerful read that will open your eyes to the sufferings of many, and the brave hearts of a few"". - Christian Bookaholic
