Overview

This book aims at English learners from nonphonetic language backgrounds, including true beginners and those who have spent much time learning English but are still not confident enough to say they have mastered it. Utilizing pictographs in the form of Microsoft Word Icons, the writer helps the readers visualize the differences between a phonetic language of which English is one, and visual script languages such as Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. Highlighting these differences allows learners to focus their time and effort on what is foreign to them in the English language: concepts such as clauses, subject, predicate verbs, count and noncount nouns, tenses, subject-verb agreement, and subject-verb inversion. The feature of this book is to enable learners to master the fundamental sentence structures with a minimal vocabulary. In this book, students have learned to make more than 624 sentences with only two English words: ""fire"" and ""burn"".
