He is a licensed professional counsellor who works with refugee and immigrant populations. His interests include indigenous African knowledge and culture. Ahmed is from Somalia where he continues to give back, recently helping to build a new school. He now works and resides in Minnesota. Wes Erwin is both author and licensed counsellor, penning picture books and middle grade novels. No stranger to higher education, Wes has a master's degree and Ph.D. in Counselling from the University of Iowa and currently works with people who are refugees in the Shoreview, Minnesota area. In his spare time, he enjoys basketball, reading, hiking, biking, canoeing, and camping with his family. Meryl Treatner is an award-winning children's book illustrator, with publications by numerous major publishers.
