OverviewFinnish is a Uralic language of the Finnic branch spoken by the majority of the population in Finland and by ethnic Finns outside Finland. Finnish is one of the two official languages of Finland (the other being Swedish). In Sweden, both Finnish and Meankieli (which have significant mutual intelligibility with Finnish) are official minority languages. The Kven language, which like Meankieli is mutually intelligible with Finnish, is spoken in the Norwegian county Troms og Finnmark by a minority group of Finnish descent. If you are seeking a source to learn Finnish effectively, this book is for you. This booklet summarizes the basic grammar rules and sentence structure of Finnish, thus giving you the information you need to build Finnish sentences from scratch. The information provided in the booklet is also a useful supplement to exercise-based language learning, so I recommend using it in conjunction with one of the interactive language learning websites that are freely available these days.
