The author, an occupational therapist who has worked extensively with children with Down syndrome, is also the parent of a teenager with Down syndrome. She is now volunteer Board President of West Toronto KEYS to Inclusion, a non-profit organization promoting inclusive opportunities for adults with intellectual disabilities.
