Finding Her Again: A Survivor's Story

Overview

Growing up in poverty and trauma, the beginnings of my childhood seemed normal to me. Domestic violence was normal for me. I absorbed ways to survive and managed to flourish during my younger years, graduating college, and holding multiple degrees. Yet as strong and as confident as I was; as optimistic about my future-with my good job, my loving daughter, and stable home, something happened to blow that all up. Somebody. When you let somebody into your life, be careful about who it is. Because what happens when forgiveness becomes nonexistent? What happens when for the very first time in your life you contemplate suicide-and even homicide? What happens when everything you knew love to be was everything love was not? It takes a tragedy or trauma to make you realize how resilient you can be. Survival, determination, fear, restoration. This is my journey. I invite you to come and embark on it with me.
