Author Information

Linda Hutchinson moved to Newcastle in 1974 from Narrabri, NSW. She worked in various positions including Centrelink. After returning from Darwin in 1986 with her partner Geoffrey and son Kyle, she commenced work at the University of Newcastle. She completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1997. Linda retired from the University in 2021 and took up her passion of writing. Finding a Friend is the first book in the series 'The Adventures of Echidna and Wombat' with the second book The Kookaburra Choir due to be released in 2026. She also has a passion for fantasy writing and all things magical and is currently writing her first fantasy novel The Emerald Forest. Leanne Deering is an Illustrator and Graphic Designer known for creating book cover artwork, character illustrations and multimedia designs. Through a blend of digital and traditional methods she creates unique and charming hand-drawn illustrations. Leanne lives in the beautiful city of Newcastle and has a Bachelor of Visual Communication in Graphic Design and Illustration/Animation and Interaction from the University of Newcastle Australia. When not immersed in her design projects she enjoys drawing, photography, reading books and watching movies.
