With more than 15 years of representing consumer bankruptcy clients and more than 30 years of civic volunteer work, Stokes recognized the effects and symptoms of financial illiteracy throughout the community. Having helped many bankruptcy clients, Stokes saw the opportunity to use her experience to help the next generation of consumers. In 2010, Stokes authored Basic Beginnings: A Finance Management Handbook for Teens and Young Adults and developed finance management workshops for youth. The commitment has, since, evolved into a mission. It was out of that mission that Finance Manual: Management Lessons for Teens was born. Stokes is, currently, creating other personal development resources and workshops to help develop the total youth.
