Overview

Imagine being a kid who dreams about having her very own horse, but there are no horses where you live. No stables. And no adults who understand how much horses mean to you. What would you do? I was that girl, and this is my story. Your dream may be different, but it's just as important and worth chasing. Follow along as I tell my story. Feel the soft nuzzle of your new best friend and the tickle of its breath on your cheek. Gaze deeply into the mystery of its eyes. Next, grab its lead rope or climb on its back as we step together into the next chapter of your life! Finally...HORSES! is the story of how my dream finally came true. I hope it inspires you to chase your dreams until they bloom into living color too!

"Finally...HORSES!, a young readers version of Mrs. Alexander's At Home on a Horse in the Woods, contains and communicates the essence of the longer book: A child's inexplicable longing for something they've never experienced or had modeled in life, the lifelong pursuit of that dream, the fulfillment and loss of the longed-for experience, and the happy achievement of a life rich with the childhood calling of the heart. Marian Allen ""Finally...HORSES!"" begins with the author's childhood dream of owning a horse, and will bring young readers into the imaginative world that they will recognize as their own. Mrs. Alexander then continues the story of how horses finally came into her life. Well-written in language that children can easily read or follow and accompanied by the lovely and whimsical illustrations of Lesley A.J. Baumann, ""Finally...HORSES!"" is a joy for readers young and old. Patti Liszkay Have you ever wanted something so badly you never stopped thinking or dreaming about it? Ever since she was a young child, Janet Wolanin Alexander has loved horses. She watched old westerns on TV and pretended to be a cowgirl. Every time she rode on a merry-go-round, she wished she were riding a real horse instead. Finally...HORSES! is the children's version of Mrs. Alexander's At Home on a Horse in the Woods. In it, she tells about her heartfelt journey with horses throughout her life so far and reminds the reader never to let go of any dream God has put in their mind. Finally...HORSES! is a heartfelt story for people of all ages. Jen Selinsky Janet Alexander has put all her experience teaching, guiding, and inspiring children to discover the world, into her first children's book. Finally...HORSES! recalls her childhood dream of having her own real horse to ride. The dream had to wait, and it was not fulfilled all at once. But Janet never stopped working toward the dream. She made several horse friends who took her on adventures and taught her where to find wonder along the way. Mandy Dick"
