Overview

This study was conducted between September 2017 and February 2018 is part of a REDD+ perspective and focuses on the contribution of the REDD+ component of the (PNDP) to local development and the fight against climate change in the commune of Meiganga. The objective was to show the impact that the REDD+ pilot project in the Meiganga commune could have on local development and the fight against climate change. The methodological approach was based on field surveys illustrated by photographs and supplemented by support from satellite image processing. From these results, about 90% of the population practices shifting cultivation on bushland, which is the main factor of deforestation in the area; If the project is implemented, the establishment of a sustainable land use and management plan (SLUMP) will allow zoning of the land, which will facilitate the intensification and development of agriculture with a strong impact on agricultural production, which could increase from 3 t/ha for cassava and yam, 1.5 t/ha for maize and 2 t/ha for potatoes to 3 t/ha for maize
