Fern & Kettle is a collection of linked short stories set inside one quietly extraordinary tea shop in San Francisco, where the menu changes with the seasons and the regulars change with each other. There's Nora, a project coordinator who comes for the Darjeeling and stays, slowly and somewhat inconveniently, for the accountant at the window table with ink on his hands. And there's Mara, a twenty-two-year-old with fourteen thousand followers and a growing suspicion that the most honest thing she's ever posted was the morning she didn't post at all. These are small stories. Nobody saves the world. But somebody orders you a pot of tea before you even walk through the door, and somehow that turns out to be enough.
