Overview

The minute we embark on a diet, or two, we begin to change our natural innate relationship with food. Food obsession can creep in, and it can become very easy to find yourself on the incessant bandwagon of yo-yo dieting. It's finally becoming a well documented fact that diets do, indeed, in the long-term cause more weight gain, not weight loss. Unfortunately the societal pressure to conform to skinny or thin is relentless. Sadly young children and teens are the most vunerable to these pressures. More often than not that simple first diet, that seemed so harmless, leads to the beginnings of an eating disorder. We have lost our way with food. So many of us struggle with food extremes. Feast or famine combined with the never-ending battle with emotional eating. Intuitive and Mindful eating is not a diet. It brings us back to eating based on our own hunger and satisfaction. It allows us to re-build that lost trust with our bodies and food, and connect with our own inner-wisdom.Susan celebrates recovery from her battle with an eating disorder. In this her first book, she shares how her eating disorder, Anorexia Bulimia, dire restricting and bingeing would plague her for many decades. We follow her through her own personal journey of self discovery, and how she also came to understand her co-dependancy issues. The story takes us From her upbringing in Northern England, and her Interior Design background, through all the life changing events in-between. In this short self reflection, Susan discovers the whys behind her bulimia, bingeing, restricting and emotional eating, that engulfed most of her life. Her new career later as a therapist, happily brought a new self awareness that would begin to push her eating disorder forward out into the open. When things are then finally brought to a head, and her health also begins to take a downward spiral, she turns to Intuitive eating and the healing process begins, emotionally and physically. Because of her 25 year long battle with her body and food, Susan is a passionate advocate for the prevention of eating disorders. She educates the general public and young adults about the benefits of Intuitive and mindful eating and its transformative qualities. This book illustrates how diets can sometimes lead to eating disorders and negatively impact our health. Susan provides the reader with the simple steps needed to begin their own Intuitive and mindful eating practice. She also reminds us of how our histories often hold the key to our present day realities, and that change can promote positive growth.
