Overview

Originally published in 1988, F.C.B. Cadell: The Life and Works of a Scottish Colourist 1883-1937 was the first book devoted entirely to the life of the remarkable artist F.C.B Cadell. Now fully revised, this expanded edition includes an essay by Duncan Macmillan which complements the first-class biographical details presented in Tom Hewlett's original text. Highlighting the artist's outgoing and generous personality and his wit, the narrative also demonstrates Cadell's extraordinarily versatile artistic talent, which helped to lay the foundations of twentieth-century Scottish art. The beautiful paintings reproduced in this book bear testimony to the achievements of one of the country's very finest painters. Including 200 images, the majority of which are reproduced in colour, this visually-rich publication charts the full trajectory of Cadell's impressive career and as such is an invaluable resource for anyone interested in twentieth-century Scottish art.
