Overview

The study investigated the extent to which trends can be explained in terms of changes in the injuries that lead to fatalities and the health services' response to them, and the current distribution of fatalities among socio-economic classes. The researchers recommended some changes to health service provision, as well as the need to address the potential risk factors for the less affluent car-occupants, such as lower levels of full licence holding, unlicensed driving, driving older cars and low seat-belt use.
