OverviewThis thesis examines firstly the level of awareness about sustainability and women empowerment linked to fashion among the large Indian society. The research secondly analyzes how sustainability and women empowerment can be correlated and how they are integrated into the fashion design process in Indian education. Finally, its aim is also to provide a series of prototypes based on different sustainable strategies and to propose a guideline for the Indian education. Women empowerment is examined under various angles: the power of the student, the power of women working in the industry, the power of the user as an active responsible consumer, and the power of the aesthetic of the dress on the wearer. The hypothesis that sustainability and women empowerment are correlated is validated through survey questionnaires, field observation, document analysis, and interviews.
