Adama Cheibany AW est docteur en hydrologie - génie civil (Université Laval, Québec). Ancien enseignant à l'Université de Nouakchott, il a effectué une carrière internationale à l'Organisation pour la Mise en Valeur du fleuve Sénégal, dirigeant pendant vingt-six ans l'exploitation du barrage de Diama. Depuis sa retraite en 2021, il se consacre à la recherche historique et à la transmission du patrimoine intellectuel du Fouta. Son premier ouvrage, Alfa Muhamadu AW - Wâlalde ou le foyer du savoir au coeur du Futa (L'Harmattan-Sénégal, 2024), inaugure cette démarche que prolonge aujourd'hui le présent livre.
