OverviewFamily Values is a full-length comedy by Hoyt Hilsman. Set in Washington, DC, the play is about a Senator from Idaho and his oddball family. When son Duncan returns from his first semester at college, he discovers that his room has been turned over to an itinerant reporter for the BBC. His father is in the midst of a political campaign, his mother is trying to remember when the family dog died, and his sixteen-year old sister is about to elope to Las Vegas with her lesbian lover. Family Values is part of a family trilogy, which includes Foggy Bottom, which was adapted as a television pilot, optioned by Fox, and honored at the Slamdance Film Festival. He has written screenplays for a number of studios and television networks, including Disney, Sony, New Line, Fox, ABC, NBC and CBS. His stage plays and musicals have been produced in theaters around the country and abroad, and have won numerous awards. He is the author of a series of political thrillers, including Nineteen Angels, which is currently in development as a feature film. Mr. Hilsman has been an active participant in the national political scene, as well as a candidate for Congress. He was a delegate to the 2004 Democratic National Convention and later ran for Congress.
