Overview

After being adopted as an infant, Louis is now reunited with his birth mother. Through this family experience, Louis explores his feelings, finds encouragement, and is hopeful for what the future holds. This beautifully illustrated children's book was written to educate and encourage the adopted child, and also to provide conversation starters for the adoptive and birth family in their relationship in an open adoption arrangement. Told from the child's point of view, this book shares the ideas of domestic adoption, transracial adoption, birth mothers, and the ongoing relationships of open adoption. Additional Family By Love titles are A Story of Open Adoption and A Christmas Together. These (and much more) are available online. Buy all three titles together and save at familybylove.com.

Author Information

As an adoptive-mother-to-be, Kaycee knew she needed to write kids books about open adoption to help fill a void she discovered in children's literature. It's not a completely far cry from what she does by day as a freelance writer and graphic designer, but it is certainly a fun new adventure for her. (And she has not-so-secretly loved every minute of it!) At home she is the wife to an amazing and Godly man, the mother of a beautiful little girl, and a woman continually thankful for Jesus. She has loved writing and sharing stories as far back as she can remember. And she longs to spend warm days where she can see palm trees and smell salt in the air. (That's not asking too much, is it?) As her family awaits their adoption placement, they are prayerful for the birth family, the precious life currently forming, and for adoptive families everywhere who are right there with them in the very same boat.
