Author Information

Dean Ladd is a Marine combat veteran of the Second World War, serving as an officer in the 8th Marines, 2nd Marine Division, in the battles for Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Saipan, and Tinian. After the war he served in the Marine Corps Reserve, participating in numerous active-duty training tours and completing courses in amphibious warfare and management in the Department of Defense. Steven Weingartner is an historian and writer specializing in military history and military affairs. The recipient of the 1998 Carl Sandburg Award For Nonfiction as co-author of Lala’s Story: A Memoir of the Holocaust.
