Bishop Joseph E. Thomas, PhD, is a bishop of the Western Orthodox Christian Church. He has served for over 20 years in various ministries: parish administration, teaching, nursing home ministry, youth pastoral care, retreat work, pastoral counseling, crises intervention, military ministry, prison ministry, lecturing, etc. Bishop Thomas is credentialed with a Bachelors degree in Philosophy, Masters in Theological Studies, a Doctorate of Ministry in Pastoral Counseling and a PhD in Theological Studies. As a Theologian his specialty is Ascetical/Mystical Theology. Bishop Thomas is the author of two previous books: Mystical Darkness: The Dark Night in the Life of Padre Pio (2011) and Point of Origin: The Evolution of Religious Consciousness and Its Ultimate Expression (2012). Recreationally he enjoys good music, bike riding, walking, reading, spending time with family and friends.
