Fortunately, many common eye disorders disappear without treatment or can be managed by self-treating. An ophthalmologist is a medical or osteopathic doctor who specializes in eye and vision care. An ophthalmologist to take care of more complex or specific conditions in certain areas of the eye or in certain groups of patients. Meanwhile, Tele-ophthalmology has been employed mainly for patients in under-served rural areas in need of specialty care, but other applications such as telementoring have also been used.
