Overview

My book contains over 50 short and very short filler stories about experiences I've accumulate over a lifetime. Included in this mix are stories created just for fun. You see semi-trucks rolling through your town. but have you ever thought about the lives of those people driving them? For two years I roamed the United States in one of these big rigs. I was in 46 of the lower 48 states and racked up around a quarter million miles. When I left this job, I started hauling fruit from Central Washington into the Los Angeles basin. I've tried to give you an accurate picture of life on the road. One story covers an eight week trip around the US while another details a trip from Wenatchee, Wa. into the LA Basin and the return trip.

Several years ago I started attending our senior center's writers club. We write stories and read them. The group offers suggestions on how to improve the story and corrects any mistakes. It has been a very enjoyable experience. This collection contains stories from my personal life. Two of them, Incredible Journey and Miracle in Amsterdam are incidents best described as Divine Intervention. They defy the laws of probability. I've also added some fictional stories to keep thing interesting. In 2002 I knew I had to make some changes so I attended truck driving school. I was hired by a firm located in Jackson, MS. They would hire anyone if they had regular freight going into and out of your home area. Wenatchee ships a lot of apples, pears, and cherries, so I was hired. I was assigned a truck to drive. I would bring it home for break. I was given one day off for every week on the road. If I wanted to be off for both Christmas and New Years, I had to leave Nov,1 and arrive home Christmas eve. Over the years I've accumulated many photographs. I've made several short videos available through my website vietnamwasblring.com I've made them free so enjoy viewing my work. I will add additional short videos from time to time.
