Her research focuses on the economic, social, and cultural roots of social inequality, and has appeared in Sociological Forum, The Journal of Contemporary Sociology, The International Journal of Qualitative Studies in Education, and Teaching in Higher Education. Her book, Inside the College Gates: How Class and Culture Matter in Higher Education, investigates the how social class and first-generation status shape how students navigate the college environment. In 2018 she was named her university′s Outstanding Undergraduate Teacher.
