It applies a Hallidayian SFL (Systemic Functional Linguistics) framework of text analysis to an array of native and non-native English editorials. It catalogs their micro-textual index (Chain Interaction analysis) and uncovers their macro-rhetorical skeleton (Generic Structure Potential analysis). Finally, it offers a qualitative and quantitative cross-cultural comparison to highlight textual variation from one culture to another.
