Mormonism--despite official discomfort with the term and notwithstanding attempts to replace it, there remains no fully satisfactory substitute for the word--has drawn considerable attention in recent years from popular entertainment, political commentators, and elsewhere. Very often, though, it remains an exotic 'Other, ' poorly understood and sometimes sensationalized (if not worse). In this intelligent and informed introduction to Latter-day Saint faith and practice, the 'believing skeptic' Gregory Dundas performs an important and much-needed service. --Daniel C. Peterson, Brigham Young University In Explaining Mormonism, Gregory Dundas examines the teachings and practices of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and finds compelling answers to life's ultimate questions. Drawing on history, theology, and social science in an effort worthy of C. S. Lewis, Dundas offers an illuminating portrayal of a unique Christ-centered world view and the way of life it inspires. --Daniel W. Graham, Brigham Young University
