OverviewLaser resurfacing and chemical peeling are treatments used for facial rejuvenation. Laser resurfacing is a procedure to remove the outer layers of skin from the face and encourage new skin to grow. It can remove wrinkles, scars and areas of discolouration, and tighten the skin. Chemical peeling is also used to improve the appearance of the skin, typically performed on the face, neck or hands. In this treatment, a chemical solution is applied to the skin that causes it to blister and eventually peel off. The new, regenerated skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin. Divided into six sections, this book is a comprehensive guide to facial rejuvenation techniques, namely laser and chemical peel therapies. The first two sections cover treatments for the aging face - removal of wrinkles, lines, skin tightening etc. The following sections discuss laser treatment for vascular problems (haemangiomas, rosacea, vascular malformations), unwanted hair removal, and liposuction. The book concludes with guidance on the avoidance and management of complications. With an internationally recognised editor and contributor team, this invaluable text is further enhanced by more than 300 clinical photographs and figures.
