Overview

The study aimed to understand the adaptive processes of women facing breast cancer and the improvement of health/nursing care for women who have undergone mastectomy in a district in northern Portugal. In terms of training, this study also aimed to increasingly enhance the role assigned to schools as social spaces in health promotion and education activities for children and young people, in order to achieve a better understanding and interrelation of different areas of knowledge and their content, developing synergies with other curricular areas, integrated into the educational projects of each educational institution, in partnership and cooperation with the community. It is essential that nurses working in this area have, in addition to general knowledge, the specific knowledge of this specialty in order to meet the needs of users/patients/families, increasingly valuing the relational area.
