OverviewThere is a noticeable shortage of technical specialists in the Austrian IT labour market. Due to upcoming retirements and subsequent low birth rates, the shortage of skilled workers is even expected to increase. In view of the predicted shortage of skilled workers, calls for more well-trained workers are growing louder. At the same time, approximately 600 female students graduate from TU Wien every year, a large proportion of whom are then looking for a suitable job. This thesis therefore examines the extent to which students at TU Wien encounter implicit, hidden barriers during their studies, with a focus on non-majority Austrians. It examines the problems they face as non-majority Austrians when pursuing a technical education and what measures can be taken at TU Wien to improve career entry for these qualified female students. The research focuses on female TU students of Muslim faith who have a migration background, as their roots lie abroad. The study was limited to women who wear headscarves.
