OverviewIf you've ever felt frustrated, upset or even jealous when you think of trying to exercise, I hope that this book will help you find your way to engaging with the movement you love, overcoming the challenges in your way and understanding why exercise can sometimes feel so hard and how it can help us to manage the very health conditions that may be holding us back. We are always mind, body and spirit and this book is intended to help you to navigate and reframe what your best is, for your mind, body and spirit, every day. If I could go back in time, this is what I would tell myself: Exercise as much as you possibly can. Even when you feel terrible, even when your back hurts, even when you have ANOTHER migraine coming on, no matter what, if you can get sweaty, if you can go for a swim, do it. Because as much as you are afraid of making yourself worse, as afraid as you are of pain, or even the nausea and dizziness and all the other things that come with migraine, these things will only get worse if you don't exercise with some real intensity. I know it seems like what I am saying is impossible, but you know from working with all the brilliant people you've worked with over the years - the ones with MS, Parkinson's Disease, Alzheimer's, the ones who've had strokes and are paralysed or are in wheelchairs, the ones who may have only days left in this world, you know that if they can do it, so can you. You might not be able to do it every day, you may not be able to do it all and, my goodness, it's going to be hard and it's going to hurt. But it will give you back the very thing you crave - your health. It won't be perfect health and you'll still be battling every day, but honey, you know I love you and wouldn't say this if it wasn't true, once you really get going, it will NEVER be as bad as it has been before you started. I can tell you some of why it works, for you and others with insulin resistance, others with chronic illness and inflammation, and others with mental health problems and all kinds of other stuff going on, but no one can tell you everything, because it's all still a mystery. Yes, you can help yourself by eating healthy, taking care of that gut microbiome - you need to understand that too (and urgently!) but exercise is going to free you, my dear, it's going to give you back your life and your joy. It is a miracle, and so are you. ""...a voice of encouragement for those who believe success is impossible.""
